Some Reasons Why All Your Traffic Is Not Counted

There are several reasons a visit may not register with your counter:

* The visitor canceled the page load by clicking a link before it was finished loading, or closing the window, before your counter was loaded
* The visitor is on a slow connection and the request times out
* The visitor is behind a proxy (ex. AOL, MSN)
* The visitor's browser served the page from its cache or an ISP's cache instead of your server
* The visitor is using privacy software which blocks counters and trackers
* Your tracking software was unavailable at the time of the request, or can't handle concurrent connections

For the most accurate statistics, you shouldn't rely on a 3rd party counter. Your web server access logs are a good source of accurate hit counts. Most web hosts provide a log analyzer such as Awstats, Webalizer or Urchin. These are usually run once a day on the previous day's log files so are 24 hours behind our real-time counts.

This website uses IntenseDebate comments, but they are not currently loaded because either your browser doesn't support JavaScript, or they didn't load fast enough.
