Wine Of The Month Club Choice - Merlot
I have had the recent pleasure of having a shipment of fine wines sent to me from the state of California. The 2 bottles of wine came in a discrete container nicely gift wrapped. enclosed in the shipment was a newsletter that explained the difference between the two varieties of wines that i received. The local vintner was featured during the wine of the month club also. I definitely am not a wine connoisseur, and wil not attempt to tell you anything about the wines being full-bodied or some sort of high praise. I do know good taste when I have experienced it, though.
The merlot was a very fruity wine that was made with a variety of fruits and aged approximately 22 months. The cabernet sauvignon was a more oakier tasting wine and had been aged 20 months. Although my experience in different wines and the complexity of their character, I would have to say that the merlot was the smoother tasting of the two. My palate was delighted with the fruitiness of the merlot and this definitely was a wine that could complement even the strongest of red meat dishes. Oh, and by the way the wine club’s newsletter was very informative with a variety of different recipes for wines. I found this information very helpful.
