Truly “Special” Type of Software Management Service

Ever wondered how so many large companies keep track of software installations? Using a technique called Group Policy Software Installation, all of our technician’s laptops were force fed a very unique library of proprietary software applications and tools. The key to this deployment was the ability of the IT department to keep track of who had what on what machine and what capabilities each end-user required.

I learned about this through an issue i had when upgrading an old laptop that I had been using to catalog cell site build-out parameters. The technique was called Group Policy Software Installation and it worked like a charm to keep all of the information flowing in a quick and timely manner.
